Overview

The Challenge

Home cooks save recipes everywhere—Instagram Reels, TikTok, Pinterest, blogs, even handwritten cards—and lose them the moment dinner stress hits. Folders of links and screenshot albums don’t scale: ingredients are messy, servings don’t match the table, and there’s no help once you’re at the stove.

Cooklook needed a living cookbook — one place to import from anywhere, keep recipes beautifully formatted, improve them over time, and actually cook from them. Google Play was still on the way; iPhone, iPad, and web had to ship first.

What we focused on:

  • Import that gets it right — clean ingredients and steps from 5,000+ sites, social posts, and photos of cards, not a dump of ads and comments.
  • A cookbook, not a spreadsheet — warm UI, version history, scaling, substitutions, and notes so recipes improve with use.
  • Help in the kitchen — cooking assistant answers, grocery lists sorted by aisle or recipe, and nutrition without manual math.
Our Solution

What we did

We designed and built Cooklook as an AI recipe organizer for iPhone, iPad, and web: save a recipe in one click, let AI organize the collection, then cook, shop, and refine from the same source of truth.

What shipped

  • One-click import — websites, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, NYT Cooking and 500+ more sources, plus photos of handwritten recipes, formatted and ad-free.
  • AI organization — automatic tagging and collection structure so cooks stop filing recipes by hand.
  • Edit, scale, and version — swap ingredients, change servings, add notes, and keep a history of every improvement.
  • Cook and shop — in-app cooking assistant for substitutions and technique, grocery lists by aisle or recipe, and automatic nutrition facts.

The App Store listing is the product front door; the same account works on web. Android remains listed as coming soon.

Results

The impact

"I've tried 3 other apps and nothing came close to Cooklook. The AI import gets it right every single time," writes Sarah M., a home cook featured on Cooklook's site.

Cooklook is live for 5,000+ home cooks on iOS and web, with a free download path and Pro on the App Store. The product is built to turn “what’s for dinner?” into open-the-app-and-cook.

Outcomes the product is built to support:

  • Fewer lost recipes — cooks import from the feeds they already use and keep a clean, searchable collection.
  • More cooking at home — grocery lists, substitutions, and versioned family recipes reduce the friction that sends people to takeout.
  • Trust in the import — public testimonials on Cooklook’s site call out import accuracy, allergy-aware version tracking, and a layout that feels like a cookbook.
