Artol vs GoDaddy Website Builder
GoDaddy will sell you a domain and a builder. We will write the site. The US plan price was not stable enough to quote.
A lot of small businesses meet GoDaddy on the day they buy a domain. The builder is the next button. That is convenient, and it is also how a site starts as a draft that never gets a real service page. GoDaddy is a registrar that also sells website tools and, separately, design help.
Artol does not sell domains as the product. We build the site: $0 down and $249/mo hosting, fully custom, live in less than a week. This comparison uses GoDaddy's own website-builder page as checked on 31 October 2026, and it skips any dollar figure we could not tie to a US price.
What the builder page actually said
On 31 October 2026, GoDaddy's Website Builder page described an AI builder, Airo. You start without a credit card. The page described a free start that includes a monthly allowance of AI credits, then paid plans whose credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. You describe the business, the tool drafts pages, and you edit them. Publishing on GoDaddy hosting was described as including hosting, SSL, forms, and analytics. You can connect a domain. The page also said you can sell, take appointments, and use built-in SEO tools, and that a separate Website Design Services offer exists if you want GoDaddy to build the site instead.
The same check did not produce one US dollar price worth repeating. GoDaddy's plan screens localize. A Canadian selector showed Basic, Premium, and Commerce in Canadian dollars, which is not a price for a business in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Promotional percentages on those screens are marketing, not a quote. If you want GoDaddy's number, open the plan screen while signed in for the US and read the total before you pay. This guide will not invent one.
Why the domain and the site get tangled
Buying the domain and the website from the same company feels simpler. It is simpler until you want to leave. The domain can stay at GoDaddy while the site is hosted somewhere else, but only if you know how the DNS is pointed. We can launch on a domain you already own. We do not require you to transfer it, and we do not quote a transfer fee.
The builder still expects you to supply the true details: which towns you serve, which jobs you refuse, what the hours are this week. An AI draft is a start, not an audit. Our deep business audit and competitive market research are the part a prompt does not do.
Registrar builder versus a studio
| Compare | Artol Web Studio | GoDaddy builder |
|---|---|---|
| How it starts | A call about the business | A prompt, a template, or a domain purchase |
| Who writes | We do, and you correct it | You do, with AI help |
| Price we will state | $0 down and $249/mo hosting | See GoDaddy's US checkout |
| Design | Fully custom | Generated layout you then edit |
| After launch | Two small content updates a month | You keep editing the builder |
| If you want a person to build it | That is this offer | GoDaddy sells design services separately |
A direct recommendation
Use GoDaddy's builder if you are comfortable editing, you already live in their account, and you will finish the pages. Use their design service only after you have read that offer's own price, which this page does not have. Use Artol if you want the site written and launched without becoming the designer.
You pay $0 down and $249/mo hosting. 12-month ownership terms: 12 months of hosting at $249/mo, then month to month. Leave earlier and the remaining hosting or a buyout of the build is due. We are 100% US-based, made in the USA, in Yardley, PA. Google Business Profile setup is included. We reply within one business day. Daily backups are part of hosting.
What we will not say about GoDaddy
We will not say their builder is incapable, and we will not repeat a star rating or a customer quote from their marketing page. We will not say a site on their hosting cannot be found. Those are claims we cannot source from a plan page.
If you are comparing builders with each other, Wix and Squarespace have dated dollar figures because their pricing pages showed them. GoDaddy did not, in a form we could cite for the US. The cost guide explains the three ways to pay without pretending every vendor publishes one number.
Questions we get asked
Why is there no GoDaddy price on this page?
On 31 October 2026 the public plan screens localized, and a Canadian price is not a US price. Open GoDaddy's own checkout for the current US total.
Can I keep my domain at GoDaddy?
Yes. We can launch the site on a domain you already own. You do not have to move the registration to us.
Does GoDaddy write the site for me?
The builder page describes a draft you then edit, and a separate design service if you want them to build it. Read that service's own price before you assume it is included.
What does Artol charge?
