Call to action

The ask on the page. One next step you will really answer beats three you will not.

What does Call to action mean?

The part of a page that asks the visitor to do one next thing, such as request a visit, book a time, or read the service that fits them.

Also called: CTA, button

Name the real next step

A call to action is a sentence plus a control: request an estimate, book a cut, see the dinner menu. It should match how you actually take work. If you hate forms and only answer the phone, do not make the form the hero. If you never answer the phone on a job site, do not make a phone tap the only path.

The words can be plain. Get a quote is fine when a quote is what happens next. Learn more is a stall unless it points at a specific page. Start your journey is not a thing your customers say.

One primary ask

A page can offer a second path, such as a menu of services under the main button. It should not offer book, call, chat, download, and follow with equal weight. People freeze, and you end up staffing channels you did not mean to open.

On a phone the primary ask should be visible without a treasure hunt. Responsive design is what keeps that button on the screen. A chat widget that covers it is a self-inflicted loss.

What we will not fake

We will not label a button with a promise you do not keep, such as a reply in minutes if you reply the next morning. We reply within one business day on our own studio work. Your customers' expectation is whatever you tell us to write, and then you have to live up to it.

Stores and custom booking apps are outside the $0 down site. A button can link to a scheduler you already pay for. Building a new one is a packages conversation.

An example

A nail salon's homepage offered a phone number, an Instagram follow, a PDF of policies, and a booking link the owner had stopped paying for. The rebuild kept the booking link they actually renewed and moved the policy into a normal page. Taps stopped dying in a PDF.

Questions we get asked

Is a button required on every page?

On pages where a person might be ready, yes. On a short policy page, a quiet link back to contact is enough. Do not paste an identical banner so often that the page becomes the banner.

Can the action be a phone tap?

Yes if that number is yours and you answer it. We will not publish our own number on your site. The studio's contact path stays on the studio's site.
