Web hosting
The rented space and the caretaking around it, not the design and not the domain bill.
What does Web hosting mean?
The service that stores your website and answers when a browser asks for it. Without hosting, a domain name has nowhere to go.
Also called: hosting, web host
Storage plus the unglamorous jobs
Hosting is where the pages live. A useful host also handles the certificate that makes HTTPS work, keeps a copy in case of a mistake, and stays online when you are on a job. A bargain plan can be only the disk, with every other chore handed back to you.
The design is not hosting. A builder subscription often bundles a template, a host, and a domain voucher in one price, then calls the bundle a website. You can still be the person writing the sentences and clicking publish. That is a different product from a hosted site someone else operates.
What we mean by the monthly fee
Artol hosting is $249/mo. It includes the build on the small-business offer, SSL, daily backups, and two small content updates a month. $0 down means there is no separate build invoice before work starts. 12-month ownership terms: 12 months of hosting at $249/mo, then month to month. Leave earlier and the remaining hosting or a buyout of the build is due.
That fee is not a do-it-yourself builder plan, and it is not an online store. Stores, custom apps, and large multi-section sites are quoted on packages. The cost guide puts the shape of this fee next to other ways of paying, without inventing a price we did not copy from a source.
Leaving a host
You should be able to take your words and your photos. You should not expect a template's layout to travel as a working site. Plan the move while the old host is still paid up, then cancel. Website migration is that sequence.
Ask who gets the alert if the site goes down, and who applies the certificate renewal. If both answers are you, the monthly price is only rent. If both answers are the studio, you are paying for caretaking. We reply within one business day, and the team is 100% US-based, made in the USA.
An example
A painter has been paying a builder every month and still rewriting the homepage at midnight. They move the pages to Artol hosting. The domain stays at the registrar. The new monthly bill is $249, the certificate renews with the host, and a small text change is one of the two updates included, not a fresh project.
Questions we get asked
Is hosting the same as a website builder?
No. Hosting stores and serves the site. A website builder is a tool you use to assemble pages. Some companies sell both in one login. The bill does not tell you which half you are struggling with.
Can I host the site myself to save the fee?
You can rent a raw server. You then own the updates, the certificate, the backups, and the night something fails. Owners who want that work off their list are the ones the $249/mo offer is for.
