Business email
Mail on your own domain. A different service from the website, even when one company sold you both.
What does Business email mean?
An email address on your own domain, such as a name at your business, instead of a free inbox that does not match the website.
Also called: professional email, mailbox
Why the address matches the site
Customers notice when the site says one name and the reply comes from a free inbox with a string of numbers. A mailbox at your domain looks like the same company. It also stays yours if you change website tools, as long as you do not throw away the mail records.
Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are common ways to buy that mailbox. Your registrar or your old host may have sold you mail too. The brand matters less than knowing which company holds the mailbox and which DNS lines point at it.
Launching a site without going silent
Website records and mail records share a neighborhood and not a destiny. A launch should edit the website side. MX lines, and the SPF and DMARC lines that vouch for your outgoing mail, should stay unless a person who runs the mailbox is changing them.
Before any move, send a test to and from the business address and write down where you read it. The website grader can see whether those mail records exist. It cannot read your inbox. The migration guides for Wix, Squarespace, and GoDaddy repeat this warning because it is the failure we most want you to skip.
What Artol does not host
We host the website. We do not provide the mailbox, and the $249/mo fee is not an email plan. If your form should deliver to a business address, tell us which one. We will not invent a new inbox and hope you find it.
If the only working mail is a personal free account, launching the site is a good moment to set up domain mail with a provider you pick. Do that before you print the address on a truck. We can point the form at it once it receives a test.
An example
A real-estate agent's website and mailbox were both inside an old host. The new site moved cleanly, and the agent kept the same mailbox by copying the MX lines instead of switching nameservers blind. Listing inquiries kept the same thread. No new address had to be learned.
Questions we get asked
Can I use a free Gmail address on the site?
You can, and many businesses do at the start. A domain address is clearer and easier to hand to an employee later. Either way, publish an inbox you actually open.
Will contact-form messages arrive as business email?
They arrive in whatever mailbox we connect. That can be your domain inbox. Check spam after launch, once, on purpose. The form and the mailbox are partners, described under contact form.
